The Avondhu Press Newspaper was established in 1978 and covers the areas of North East Cork, West Waterford, South Limerick and South Tipperary. This successful weekly - published Thursday - boasts a readership in excess of 39,000. The first edition was a modest 4 page edition which has since grown to an average of 80 pages.
Mitchelstown has become the location for what many locals describe as an invasion of Travellers over the past few weeks. The North Cork town was referred to as a ‘mecca for Travellers’ at a meeting of Cork County Council, as caravans have camped on private and council sites around the town.
