The Avondhu Press Newspaper was established in 1978 and covers the areas of North East Cork, West Waterford, South Limerick and South Tipperary. This successful weekly - published Thursday - boasts a readership in excess of 39,000. The first edition was a modest 4 page edition which has since grown to an average of 80 pages.

Fermoy is to feature on a new show documenting the towns that have been by-passed by new motorways in recent years. Noted local geographer, Christy Roche, acted as a guide for the TG4 show, and Christy admitted that his ‘cupla focail’ came in handy.

ENTERPRISE CENTRE NEEDED … BUT NOT AT EXPENSE OF LEISURE FACILITIES

Mitchelstown needs an Enterprise Centre. This was the overwhelming feeling at the public meeting hosted by the Mitchelstown Forum at The Firgrove Hotel this week. It was equally apparent that those who attended the meeting are not in favour of using money collected for a leisure centre to partly fund the proposed enterprise centre.
