Residents of Thomas Street in Mitchelstown were, it is claimed, subjected to antisocial behaviour, broken bottles and fighting after a local disco on Saturday night last. It is reported that a fight broke out between groups of teenagers who were attending a disco in the Town Hall.

A young Fermoy man has set a record to become the youngest Irish person to swim the English Channel and he did it in record time. Owen O’Keefe, who turned 16 earlier this year, arrived home on Tuesday evening after setting two world records with his 10 hour and 19 minute swim, the third fastest time for an Irish swimmer.
