The Avondhu Press Newspaper was established in 1978 and covers the areas of North East Cork, West Waterford, South Limerick and South Tipperary. This successful weekly - published Thursday - boasts a readership in excess of 39,000. The first edition was a modest 4 page edition which has since grown to an average of 80 pages.
Fermoy was one of the many areas throughout the country to be hit by serious flooding on Thursday night of last week as the river Blackwater burst its banks with a force not expected by the emergency services, residents or business owners.

A community garda has been appointed to Mitchelstown as part of a new nationwide programme by An Garda Siochana. Garda John Hennessy, a native of Kilteely, Co Limerick, will now take over this new role after spending 10 years on the beat in the town. .
