The Avondhu Press Newspaper was established in 1978 and covers the areas of North East Cork, West Waterford, South Limerick and South Tipperary. This successful weekly - published Thursday - boasts a readership in excess of 39,000. The first edition was a modest 4 page edition which has since grown to an average of 80 pages.

HENCHY RELIEVED OF DAIRYGOLD POSITION

The board of Dairygold are to seek a new boss following the decision this week to relieve Jerry Henchy of his position as chief executive. In a statement to The Avondhu this Wednesday a Dairygold spokesman said that the board had decided that now was an appropriate time to seek a dedicated full-time chief executive for Dairygold.

SHOCK AT DEATH OF BURNCOURT WOMAN

A quiet rural village was shocked this week with the discovery of the body of a woman in a country boreen outside Burncourt, Co. Tipperary on Monday afternoon. The woman, named locally as Geraldine Quirke, was in her early 50s and originally from Moate, Co Westmeath.
