- Action in Cork and Limerick -
On Friday, January 27th, 5 Local Mitchelstown boxers made the short trip to Blackpool Business Park, Cork. First up on the day was William O’Reilly v L Hurley. Tramore Boxing Club. This was a very close fight with both boxers putting on a good display of boxing. William was very unlucky to lose this fight narrowly. Well done William.
Second on the bill was John O’Reilly v S McCarthy. The Glen Boxing Club, Cork. What a great fight from start to finish, some great boxing by John on the day. Some great combinations were thrown by John and had great defence work as well, he went on to win that fight. Great work John.

- Extraordinary scoring -
Extraordinary is a word that best describes this week’s scoring. The soft underfoot conditions certainly suited our winner Michael Burke (16) who had a brilliant round of 33 points.
Our popular and disadvantaged club bookie had a round that dreams are made of with birdies at the 5th and 12th holes and also pars at 7 of the remaining holes.
Second was our 2010 captain Declan Glavin with another great score of 31 points, a bogey on the 11th the only blemish on his card.
In third position winning on count back was .... .

- Cahir’s Colaiste are Munster champions -
Colaiste Dun Iascaigh, Cahir added to an impressive array of titles by winning the Munster Junior A ladies football title for the first time on Saturday last. Cahir began the game with great intensity and had all the early pressure, duly rewarded by the first score, courtesy of corner forward Caoimhe Condon.
Shortly afterwards a Cahir free came off the upright but Roisin Howard was alert to score a fine point from the rebound. Good work by centre forward Kirsty Downey set Aoife Corcoran up for a third point for the Colaiste.
Fermoy finally got a foothold in the .... .

- A good start to the racing calendar -
FMC 4 MILE ROAD RACE, LITTLE ISLAND
The first BHAA race of the year, under BHAA rules, took place at Little Island on Sunday, 22nd January last. Hosted by FMC, this race is run over a somewhat unspectacular course, starting at the GAA club and winding around an industrial estate, and back along the main road, with just a few inclines.
It was certainly a good start for the BHAA calendar, with a record number of 503 athletes signing on for the race, an increase of 70 over last year’s entry.
However, as many of these runners were unregistered, there was a hold up in starting the race, which only got underway at 11.30 instead of 11.
Weather wise, it was changeable, but no rain during the race. The winner of the men’s race on the day .... .
