HELP CALUM HEAR HIS OWN LAUGHTER

Three year old Ballyhooly boy, Calum Geary (pictured), is just like any other child of his age, full of laughter and mischief along with his half twin, Donnacha.

Calum’s laughter is a light to the family but sadly, he has never heard the sound of his own voice. This little boy was diagnosed in January 2011 as profoundly deaf; he is missing all the hearing and balance nerves between both his ears and his brain.

The good news however is, that Calum’s parents Andrew (who recently worked as a community garda in Fermoy) and Helen, were informed by Beaumont Hospital about the possibility of a device (an ABI) that can replicate the ear and the hearing nerve that brings the signal to the brainstream.

They are overjoyed at having received a date for surgery ..... .
